BauWatch is the market leader in temporary camera security and active in eleven European countries. With more than 16,000 systems and tens of thousands of cameras in the field, they monitor construction sites and public spaces around the clock. The organization operates in an environment where continuity has a direct impact on safety and service delivery, every minute counts. To support its international growth ambitions without ever compromising continuity, BauWatch chose to undergo a fundamental IT transformation in partnership with Databalance.
Customer perspective
From in-house data center to future-proof infrastructure
For many years, BauWatch managed its own data centers. That worked, until the rapid European rollout put so much pressure on the internal IT organization that availability and reliability could no longer be guaranteed by the existing architecture. Continuity became a strategic issue rather than a purely technical one.
Databalance designed and built an entirely new IT infrastructure: a twin data center architecture with no single point of failure, an IaaS platform as the foundation for scalable workloads, a transformed network suited to international operations, and a multi-tier backup platform for fast recovery in the event of an incident. The result is an infrastructure in which continuity is built in architecturally, not dependent on human intervention.
One team, not two parties
To realize this transformation, BauWatch deliberately chose a close partnership with Databalance. Not a conventional client-vendor relationship, but shared responsibility for the end result. Specialists from both organizations worked intensively together throughout design, decision-making, and execution, with short lines of communication and continuous alignment.
Databalance stood out by genuinely thinking along. They understood BauWatch’s environment and combined that understanding with their own expertise. Technical decisions were directly grounded in operational reality, knowledge was actively shared, and the solution was embraced organizationally, not just delivered technically.
The transition to the new environment was the most high-risk part of the project. BauWatch operates 24/7, so downtime is simply not an option. Databalance applied a phased migration strategy with separate test, acceptance, and production environments. Systems were migrated and validated step by step, with BauWatch’s service delivery guaranteed at every stage.
The full migration was completed within one week, without a single moment of downtime. BauWatch employees barely noticed a thing: proof that preparation, transparency, and mutual trust make all the difference.
“Eleven countries. One week. Zero downtime. On schedule. That’s what you achieve when you truly work as one team.”
